You Have a Brain Book Review

A few years ago I read Ben Carson’s book Gifted Hands and I finished it in one day. I was captivated by his story and impressed with his success in life.  I was very excited to read his latest book You Have a Brain: A Teen’s Guide to T.H.I.N.K. B.I.G. The book recounts different times in his life where he was challenged and what he did to reach his potential. I love that he encourages teens to use talent, honesty, insight, niceness, knowledge, books, in-depth learning and God to dream big and reach their goals.

You Have a Brain Book Review. A great book for teens by Ben Carson.

For those of you who don’t know, Ben Carson is a renowned neurosurgeon and he worked for many years at Johns Hopkins Medical Institute. I knew his name since my husband, Darryl, who is training to become a doctor often talked about him. Darryl has always admired Ben Carson and the success he had in the medical world. He also admired his personal faith and how Dr. Carson seemed to truly care and love all of patients.

Overall, I found the book easy to read and very enjoyable. For teens or adults who have read Gifted Hands, I thought many of the stories were similar. That being said, Ben Carson adds extra lessons and shows how he used different situation in his life to shape his character. I think it’s so important to give teens good role models and show them examples of people who overcame adversity. The back of the book includes an awesome personal talent assessment where teens and even adults can discover their talents and strengths. Additionally, it includes some great discussion questions so you can talk to your children about their successes, failures and everything in-between. I certainly recommend this book to teens who want to dream and think big.

Have you read any of Ben Carson’s Books?

I received this book free from the publisher, Zondervan. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are 100% my own.
