Natural & Spiritual Birth

Today I was reading John 3 and it states in verse 3 – Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. I was reading this to Izzy and although she isn’t quite old enough to understand, I was explaining to her what it means to be born again.  Then it got me thinking…

spiritual and natural birth

When Izzy was in my belly she was very comfortable and did not want to come out (even after 2 extra weeks!).  It’s often said that babies sometimes have a hard time adjusting to this new world.  That is why many experts tell you to swaddle them, play recordings that sound like a mother’s heart beat, and hold them close so they feel comforted.  However, once they realize they are loved and cherished by their parents, they see there are so many exciting and fun things to experience in this new world!

The same thing can happen to new Christians.  They may be afraid to be born again/enter this new world (the Kingdom of God).  They are nervous that it may be uncomfortable or not fun.  But just like any parent, God will hold his new children tightly and love on them even more than one could imagine!

Change can sometimes be uncomfortable, but who wouldn’t want to see the wonders of God’s kingdom?  For the Bible says “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9
