Homemade Larabar, Vitamix Recipes

My husband and I love Larabars. We even found our one year old daughter loves them. They are a nutritious snack and they actually taste good.  Over the years I have looked at many recipes for power balls or homemade larabars and I ended up making my own recipe. We use our Vitamix Standard Blender (Certified Refurbished) to make our larabars.

Ingredients

12-15 pitted dates

3/4 cup raw slivered almonds

1 heaping tablespoon almond butter

1 teaspoon honey

1/4 dried cranberries

1 1/2 teaspoon flax seeds

Directions:

Step 1: Place 12-15 pitted dates in a food processor or you can use a Vitamix blender.  Grind up into small pieces (about 30 seconds in a Vitamix blender on medium speed).

Step 2: Add the raw slivered almonds, almond butter, honey, dried cranberries, and flax seeds.  Grind for another 45 seconds. Experiment with the time, if you like chunky granola bars grind for a shorter amount of time.

Step 3: Use a spoon to scoop out some of the batter and roll into a ball.  Repeat until batter is gone.

Step 4:  Place power balls in the freezer for 30 minutes.

Step 5: ENJOY!  If you want the power balls to last longer you can place them in the freezer or fridge.

  1. Ah, I’ve been wanting to start making my own sort of snack/granola bar. I’ll have to keep this recipe in mind! Thanks!

Vitamix sounds great, but I’m pretty happy with my Ninja. We’ll see how I feel after living with my in-laws for a month (they have a Vitamix!)

    1. I’ve never tried a Ninja, but I’ve also heard good things! I never understood why people wanted expensive blenders, but you really can use it for so many things.
