Becoming a new parent is an exciting, thrilling and scary time in life. I couldn’t wait for our daughter to be born and I felt ready to be a mother. Soon after she arrived I felt overwhelmed. We were in charge of this precious little life and I wanted to do everything perfectly. I wanted to make sure she was safe sleeping at night and I constantly worried if she was getting enough to eat.
As a new parent I often turned to family and friends for advice. I enjoyed talking to other mothers. It was comforting to know someone else was going through or went through the same thing as me. I think it’s important for new mothers to build a community and learn from others. As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child. I also read books and blogs to prepare for motherhood.
The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JMPA) has developed the Baby Safety Zone which is another great resource for parents and caregivers. You can learn from safety experts and share your parenting experiences with others.
Before our daughter was born I was overwhelmed with creating a baby registry. What products were safe? What will I really need? For me it was somewhat trial and error as well as listening to advice from others. Baby safety zone also has a great registry checklist. Becoming a new parent is a wonderful blessing. I’m so grateful for my family and friend’s support throughout my journey in motherhood.
