Benefits of Play

I participated in a campaign for HABA USA. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

What does take time to play mean to you? To me it means finding a time for adventure, imagination, creativity, silliness and fun. I loved imaginary play as a child. My sister and I would built elaborate forts, play library or school and make toys out of household objects. Now as a parent, I want to instill a love for play in our daughter.

There are so many benefits to play and in our household we love battery-free play. Now that our daughter is 18 months old she can play independently for about 30-40 minutes. I believe she is so great about independent play because from an early age we limited her screen exposure and tried to find toys without flashy lights or sounds.

We were super excited to try HABA’s Animals Sorting Box because our daughter loves fine motor tasks. This toy is very well made and is one of those toys you will pass down to the next generation. Our daughter loves the bright colors and matching the food with the animals. The sorting box will get you down on the floor with your child and you can have fun together.

We are huge fans of HABA because we believe in their toys. I love one of their slogans: “Inventive Playthings for Inquisitive Mind.” We value toys that are made for learning, but are also fun at the same time. There are so many benefits of play I couldn’t possibly list them all. Some of my favorite benefits include: building imagination and creativity, increasing physical development (fine and gross motor), strengthening problem solving skills and increasing social skills such as sharing and cooperation. Be sure to check out HABA’s “Take Time to Play” campaign where they are encouraging parents unplug for a few minutes each day and play with their kids.
